Debate with DebateAble |
DebateAble is an after-school debate program for 4th and 5th grade students attending Seattle's Queen Anne and Magnolia public elementary schools. DebateAble operates as a separate debate club at each school, providing children with the opportunity to learn critical thinking skills, empathy, analysis and public speaking in a fun and positive environment. Using teamwork, research materials, games and practice debates, students are taught to formulate, support and present arguments -- as well as listen, understand and respond to the arguments of others. Each 12 week session ends with the opportunity to participate in a Saturday, inter-school debate tournament where students from each school are divided into teams to showcase their new skills in a fun, low-key debate competition.
